Interview with the owner of Best-Obmen — Winner of the “TOP Reputation Kursoff” award in december
February 11, 2025
Today, we introduce you to Best-Obmen — the service that won our December nomination for "TOP Reputation Among Exchanges." The winner was determined by the number of transitions from Kursoff to the exchange's website, clearly demonstrating the high level of user trust. Best-Obmen has become the choice of those who value reliability, quality, and a wide range of services in the cryptocurrency exchange market.
In this interview, the owner of the service, Sergey, will share how the company managed to achieve such a high level of trust, what challenges exchanges face in Ukraine, and how they overcome difficulties while remaining one of the market leaders.
— Hi! To start, tell us a little about yourself: what’s your name, which exchange service do you represent, and how long have you been in the crypto community?
— Hi. My name is Sergey, and I am the owner, or rather, one of the owners of the Best-Obmen exchange service. I have several other projects I’m involved in, but since I was invited for an interview as a representative of Best-Obmen, I think it’s best to stay focused on this topic.
— I think during the interview, we will touch on related projects you are involved in.
— Yes, sure. I don’t mind. I’ve been in the cryptocurrency space since 2017, and that’s when I started administering an exchange. But I have actually been working in finance since 2008.
— How would you describe Best-Obmen in a few sentences for our readers? Why your exchange and not the hundreds of others on the market? What are your advantages?
— Well, summarizing it in just a few sentences is tough. 😊 But we’ve been a systematic player in this market for a long time. We make payments to cards in more than 40–50 world currencies and work with around 20–30 of the most popular payment systems. Of course, we accept and pay out all major cryptocurrencies and stablecoins available on the market.
Another strong advantage of ours is the ability to provide cash payouts in most major cities worldwide. Overall, our website offers more than 3,000 exchange directions.
— Why was the service named Best-Obmen?
— Honestly, I didn’t have a choice since I wasn’t the one who originally registered the domain. You could say it was "inherited." 🙂
— While preparing for the interview, we noticed that your service recently changed its domain from .com to .co. Why was this decision made?
Oh, the reason is quite simple. Our website was blocked by the NCU back in September 2023. The reason was the usual "classic scheme." To ensure the service continued operating normally, we just moved to a new domain. Nothing changed for our customers.
— What do you mean by "classic scheme"?
— It’s when all blocking or search warrant rulings are justified with the same fabricated reasons. For example, all exchanges are accused of cooperating with banned Russian services like QIWI, Yandex.Money, and WebMoney.
Even though we’ve never had these payment methods—ever. This is easy to verify, as there are services that show archived versions of websites for any time period. But this is just a formal excuse that has been used for years. And when you’ve been in the industry long enough and see that the reason for blocking/searches hasn’t changed for years, these situations start to look almost comical.
— Why do you think this happens?
— It’s business, nothing personal. I think it’s just someone’s "business" being passed from one office to another, regardless of who is in charge, what year it is, or their position. We have our business, and they have theirs. 🙂
— Tell us about your team. How many employees do you have, and how are responsibilities distributed?
— Honestly, I don’t want to disclose the company structure since I understand that "businessmen" might use this information for their own purposes.
We have operators working in shifts, senior operators who coordinate their work, as well as employees in marketing, development, and security. Overall, the team is well-balanced.
— Do you have an official license for crypto activities?
— Of course. In 2024, no one wants to work with a service that doesn’t have at least some level of legalization. We operate under the jurisdiction of the Czech Republic, where we hold a crypto license.
— What script do you use for your operations?
— Before the full-scale invasion, we used the rented PremiumExchanger script, but now we’ve switched to a product from a Ukrainian company. Due to certain agreements, I can’t disclose their name—the company is still entering the market, and we are bound by an NDA. So for now, you can consider our script as custom-built.
I personally know the development team and am confident they will soon reach a competitive level in this field. Their product stands out due to its many features, innovative solutions, and unique technologies that significantly simplify website administration.
— On what languages is your website available? Do you support the trend of adding Ukrainian?
— We have Ukrainian. When we used PremiumExchanger, adding Ukrainian was quite difficult since it only had two base languages. Now we plan to make the site as multilingual as possible.
— Does your service conduct AML checks?
— Yes, absolutely all transactions go through AML monitoring. Any suspicious operations are blocked at the processing stage.
— Does your team attend crypto conferences?
— Yes, we try to attend all significant events in Ukraine and abroad. We were at N Crypto in Kyiv and international conferences in Istanbul and Dubai.
— When did you first hear about Bitcoin?
— Probably when Bitcoin’s exchange rate first appeared in Privat24. That was around 2013–2014, and at that time, it was about $300.
I still remember that Privat24 dashboard, where next to the USD/UAH and EUR/UAH exchange rates, the Bitcoin rate appeared. Of course, it wasn’t possible to buy it back then—it was just information that, as I now understand, helped to popularize Bitcoin.
At that time, I wasn’t into it at all and thought it was something like an MLM scheme. I was young and naive. 😊
— Do you hold any cryptocurrency?
— No, I’ve outgrown that stage. 😊 There are too many meme coins and scams in crypto now, and I’m not interested in that.
— How do you feel about Kursoff’s monthly "TOP Reputation Among Exchanges" award?
— It’s a great idea and excellent motivation! Recognition is important both for individuals and businesses. Thanks for giving us a chance to see our hard work acknowledged!
— Thank you for the insightful interview. What would you like to wish our readers and business colleagues?
— Most of your readers are probably Ukrainians. So, first and foremost, I wish them and all of us peace!
Everything else will follow: we’ll rebuild, crypto will go to the moon. Everything will be fine as long as Ukraine stands strong.
To colleagues, I wish wisdom—don’t dump prices in the market. Always analyze the profitability of your orders because working just for the sake of working leads nowhere. Success to all!
Best-Obmen has rightfully earned the status of the exchange service with the best reputation among Kursoff users in December. The service proves that even in challenging conditions, it is possible to maintain high standards, ensure transparency, and operate within the legal framework.
We are grateful to Sergey for an open conversation and for setting an example of how a Ukrainian business can grow and compete on an international level. We wish the Best-Obmen team continued success, new achievements, and even more satisfied customers! If you are looking for a service with a proven reputation, Best-Obmen is undoubtedly an excellent choice.
