Solo miner earns 3.125 BTC for a mined block
February 11, 2025
A solo Bitcoin miner hit the jackpot by mining a block with a 3.125 BTC reward. At the current exchange rate, this amounts to over $300,000.
Block number 883,181 was successfully mined on February 10 and included 3,071 transactions. The total reward, including fees, amounted to 3.15 BTC. According to available data, Bitcoin’s price at the time was $98,007 per unit.
How did this happen?
Experts believe the miner used CKPOOL for solo mining, but according to Marshall Long, he was not directly affiliated with it. He may have been using Bitaxe equipment, which supports both solo mining and pool mining.
A key factor for solo miners
The Bitcoin network's hashrate currently stands at 788.86 million TH/s — 0.81% lower than on February 9 but 53% higher than a year ago. The rise in hashrate increases competition: mining difficulty is growing, making it harder for solo miners to earn rewards.
Most blocks are mined by large companies such as Bit Digital, Riot Blockchain, and Marathon Digital, which operate powerful mining farms.
