Solana Mobile announces the launch of a new crypto smartphone — Seeker
September 20, 2024
Solana Mobile has announced the launch of its second crypto smartphone, Seeker, which will hit the market in 2025.
The head of this division stated that Seeker will enable seamless cryptocurrency operations through the integration of a specialized wallet linked to its proprietary key storage, Seed Vault.
Device capabilities
Seeker is designed as a Web3 device, combining modern hardware with advanced software. The smartphone features a lighter and brighter body, an upgraded camera, extended battery life, and a more affordable price than the Saga.
One of the key features is the Seed Vault, which, according to the developers, will provide the "highest level of security" for digital assets. The new wallet, developed in collaboration with Solflare, allows users to perform cryptocurrency transactions with just a double tap.
According to Solana Mobile, each device will come with a Seeker Genesis token, granting VIP access to exclusive rewards and content within the Solana ecosystem. The smartphone is expected to attract developers working on dApps, DeFi, and gaming projects.
Free dApp Store
The revamped app store is another new feature designed to attract developers to Seeker. Unlike the Apple App Store and Google Play, this store charges no fees and specializes in cryptocurrency-related applications.
The smartphone is expected to open up new opportunities for users — from DeFi and payments to NFTs and decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN). Integration with artificial intelligence will enable the creation of tokenized AI agents for network interaction, enhancing community engagement and earning potential.
Additionally, gamers will gain access to exclusive Web3 games and limited rewards, including assets from Parallel Colony, which will be available only in the dApp Store.
