Texas residents file a lawsuit against Marathon Digital

Mining

October 08, 2024

In a lawsuit, a group of residents claims that noise from the Marathon site is causing significant discomfort and irritation. Some residents report fatigue, headaches, memory issues, hearing loss, migraines, and tinnitus. Additionally, many have experienced worsening of pre-existing health conditions, particularly high blood pressure.

The plaintiffs argue that Marathon Digital’s operations substantially interfere with their right to privately use and enjoy their property. The noise and effects of the site’s activities create serious obstacles to living comfortably near the facility.

Energy costs and property value decline

In addition to noise, citizens also claim that the energy usage by the mining facility has led to higher electricity bills in the region. They have also noticed a decline in their property values due to the negative impact of the company’s activities.

Demands to the court

The plaintiffs are asking the court to impose a permanent ban on the operation of the Marathon Digital site to prevent further noise disturbance. Additionally, they seek fair compensation for the damages caused, as well as coverage of legal fees.
