November 01, 2024

On October 31, OpenAI announced a new feature called "ChatGPT Search," which allows users to search for answers on the Internet directly through ChatGPT. Users now have the ability to perform searches either automatically or manually by clicking the web search icon.

Enhanced access

According to the company, users can receive quick, up-to-date answers with links to relevant web sources, which previously would have required a search engine.

Now, during real-time conversations, ChatGPT will use current information from the web to provide accurate answers and deeper contextual explanations.

Collaboration with leading media outlets

To ensure high-quality information sources, the new feature is based on partnerships between OpenAI and some of the world's largest media companies. These include The Financial Times, French publication Le Monde, Spanish Prisa Media, and German media giant Axel Springer. This collaboration provides access to timely news and reliable articles.

AMA Session with company leaders

During the AMA, most responses were brief, but there were hints of future updates.

Sam Altman mentioned that updates to the DALL-E image generator are in development and worth anticipating. He also promised exciting future releases, though these will not include an upgrade to GPT-5.
