"Corrupt" CLARITY Act, Ban on Pardoning SBF, and a One-of-a-Kind Solo Miner
The Kursoff team has prepared a weekly overview of the most important news and trends from the world of cryptocurrencies, regulation, and artificial intelligence. Brief, honest, and straight to the point — covering everything that is driving the market right now.
Market and Bitcoin: Bottom Formation Phase and Large Transfers
BTC Price Dynamics
It was a positive week for the leading cryptocurrency. Starting below the $62,000 mark, the asset showed confident growth following fresh U.S. inflation data and briefly crossed above $65,000. Bitcoin has now stabilized and is trading within the $63,900–$64,500 range.
U.S. Government Moved $288 Million in Assets
U.S. authorities transferred a large batch of confiscated cryptocurrency to the Coinbase Prime platform: 3,800 BTC and more than 30,000 ETH. These assets were seized as part of high-profile criminal investigations (including those related to the defunct BTC-e exchange). Experts note that this is not necessarily preparation for a sale — the transaction may simply be a routine internal redistribution between government wallets.
Major Redistribution of "Old" Coins Is Nearing Completion
Galaxy Digital analysts noted that 2024–2025 saw the largest "awakening" of old Bitcoin whales since 2017. However, this large-scale redistribution of assets from weaker hands to long-term investors is now nearly complete.
Additionally, CryptoQuant analysts and analyst Axel Adler confirm that the market is in the final stage of bottom formation. Currently, 86.5% of the coins held by short-term holders are at a loss, signaling seller exhaustion.
Forecast: $500,000 per Bitcoin?
Well-known analyst PlanB stated that the October high of $126,000 was not the peak of this cycle. Based on his Stock-to-Flow model, he believes that between 2026 and 2028, BTC could realistically reach $500,000 (with a potential range of $250k to $1 million), linking market cycles solely to the halving mechanism.
Regulation: Critical Laws in the U.S., EU, and Asia
Disputes Surrounding the CLARITY Act in the U.S.
The U.S. crypto market structure bill has faced strong opposition. Three Democratic senators publicly described it as "corrupt" and claimed it promotes Donald Trump's personal business interests. To move the bill forward, its authors need to secure 60 votes in the Senate, so Trump's team is already preparing compromise versions regarding the bill's ethics provisions to gain support from opponents.
U.S. Senate Bans Pardoning SBF
The Senate unanimously passed a resolution completely prohibiting any pardon or sentence reduction for FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF). As a result, the executive branch, including the President, will legally be unable to reduce his 25-year prison sentence.
Digital Euro (CBDC) Planned for 2027
The European Central Bank (ECB) selected 36 financial giants (including Revolut, Deutsche Bank, and UniCredit) for large-scale testing of the digital euro, scheduled to begin in the second half of 2027. The EU aims to create a state-backed alternative to dollar-denominated stablecoins and reduce dependence on American payment systems Visa and Mastercard.
News from Asia:
- Japan: The country's parliament officially classified crypto assets as financial instruments. Cryptocurrency is now subject to strict insider trading regulations.
- Thailand: The central bank and the Securities and Exchange Commission are launching a large-scale audit of major stablecoin transactions to combat shadow financial flows.
- China: The Supreme People's Procuratorate has published an official strategy to strengthen criminal prosecution for money laundering through cryptocurrencies, despite their decentralized and anonymous nature.
Artificial Intelligence: AI-Written Code and the "Agentic State" in Ukraine
95% of Coinbase Code Is Written by AI
Coinbase executives stated that nearly all of their products' source code (from 95% to 100%) is now generated by AI models without human involvement. This has fundamentally changed the development process: micro-teams of just 2–3 people now complete tasks that previously required around ten developers.
Ukraine Stays on Course Toward an Agentic State
Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation is actively implementing the concept of an "agentic state," where artificial intelligence will automate public services within the Diia app (for example, automatic payment of minor fines). The national large language model (LLM) "Syayvo" is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
Lawsuits Against Meta
A group of Meta employees has filed a lawsuit against the company, accusing management of using AI algorithms to select employees for layoffs. The plaintiffs claim that AI unfairly targeted employees who were on parental or medical leave. The company denies the allegations.
Unique Case: Solo Miner Wins a $200,000 Jackpot
The week's true crypto miracle: a home solo miner using a tiny Bitaxe device worth only $250 independently found Bitcoin block No. 957,382.
The device had a hash rate of just 1 TH/s. At that speed, the mathematical probability of finding a block alone is approximately once every 16,000–18,000 years. By mining through Public Pool without fees, the lucky miner received 100% of the reward — 3.1382 BTC (more than $200,000) directly to their wallet. Once again proving that anything is possible in crypto.
