MicroStrategy halted BTC purchases
February 04, 2025
Since its first Bitcoin investment in August 2020, MicroStrategy has accumulated an impressive portfolio of digital gold. As of February 2025, the company holds 471,107 BTC, acquired for a total of approximately $30 billion. However, on February 3, it was revealed that MicroStrategy has changed its strategy: no more new purchases funded by issuing additional shares.
Pause in strategy
Michael Saylor announced that from January 27 to February 2, the company did not purchase Bitcoin, breaking a 12-week buying streak that began in the fall of 2024.
Who else is betting on Bitcoin?
Although MicroStrategy has paused its purchases, other companies continue investing in BTC. Semler Scientific, Rumble, and miner MARA (44,394 BTC) are actively expanding their holdings. Governments are also showing interest: on January 23, Trump created a task force for a strategic BTC reserve, and the Czech National Bank is exploring its inclusion in reserves.
