Google has integrated ENS into its search engine

October 10, 2024

Google announced the official integration of the Ethereum Name Service (ENS), allowing users to search for names in the .eth domain. This new feature significantly simplifies access to information about Ethereum wallets, enabling users to quickly retrieve balance data and other details.

Access to the tool

The Google team noted that this feature was launched for a limited number of users several months ago, but it is now available to all users worldwide.

Integration with test networks

According to a Web3 employee at Google, the integration also includes Ethereum for the Sepolia and Holesky test networks. This allows users to input their .eth address to receive test "drops" of ETH, greatly simplifying work with test networks.

Ease of use

ENS functions similarly to the internet domain system, as it allows users to convert long and complex cryptocurrency wallet addresses into human-readable names.

For example, instead of using complex alphanumeric characters as a wallet address, users can exchange simpler and more understandable names, like yourname.eth.
