Cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com has announced that it obtained a license under the MiFID directive (Markets in Financial Instruments Directive), allowing the platform to expand its investment service offerings within the European Economic Area (EEA).

Acquisition of a licensed Cyprus company

According to the official statement, the license was granted after the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) approved the acquisition of A.N. Allnew Investments Ltd, a licensed investment firm. This move enables Crypto.com to integrate traditional financial instruments into its ecosystem.

New investment products for European users

As a result, the exchange can now offer services including securities, derivatives, and contracts for difference (CFDs). The company emphasizes that the newly obtained regulated status supports its ambitions to expand its product lineup in the region.

Crypto.com co-founder and CEO Kris Marszalek commented on the development:

Obtaining the MiFID license further strengthens Crypto.com’s position as one of the most regulated and comprehensive providers of financial products for users in the EEA.

Earlier, the crypto exchange Kraken took a similar step by acquiring a Cypriot investment firm to operate under EU financial market regulations.
