Apple and A24 to create a movie about FTX founder
November 14, 2024
Apple and A24 studios have joined forces to create a film about Sam Bankman-Fried, the controversial founder of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX. According to available information, the film will be based on Michael Lewis’s book “Going Infinite,” with Lena Dunham set to write the screenplay.
Film concept
The film’s plot will reveal the story of FTX, which was founded in 2019 and became one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world.
However, after a sudden bankruptcy in 2022, FTX collapsed as customers discovered the disappearance of billions of dollars during a massive withdrawal rush.
Shortly thereafter, Bankman-Fried was held accountable for fraud and money laundering.
Insider perspective of the author
Best-selling author Michael Lewis spent a considerable amount of time with Bankman-Fried, observing his activities well before FTX’s collapse.
Lewis attended events in the Bahamas and even spent time with the former billionaire during his house arrest, giving him unique access to Bankman-Fried’s inner world.
As a result, the book, released in October 2023, quickly became a New York Times bestseller.
The trend of financial scandal adaptations
“Going Infinite” by Apple and A24 is not the only project covering the topic of cryptocurrency scandals. Public interest in such stories reflects a global focus on major financial collapses and the subsequent legal proceedings.
